My snarry_games pieces Transferis and The Weight of Secrets are both up on my site. I imagine most of the HP folks have already seen them, so I didn't bother reposting here.

blue_soaring wrote a fic follow-up to my Transferis art though, which is just so richly atmospheric it blows me away. I wish she'd write more HP, since one of my very favourite fics of hers is a Snape/Black piece she'd written for merry smutmas a few years ago.

I'm regularly working Sat-Mon, which at first left me wondering what to do with my time, but now school is really picking up nearing the end of the semester, so the next four days are going to be pretty packed for me. I have a lot of work to do for my two final projects. I'm happy with my progress on them though, and I have some fun side projects to work on to keep me sane. I'm really happy I've managed so much art lately, since it just plain feels good to be drawing regularly again. As I flailed in my last pic post, I ordered my Cintiq, so that should get to me within the next week. So. Excited.

It snowed all night last night. I like the sound of snow against the windowpane. And I didn't leave the house, but tomorrow I'm going to hate it. Ugh.

Hmm. And I still haven't gone shopping for a new pair of brown boots, which I really need. I guess it's the black tomorrow, or my ankles will freeze all day.

Oof. I've had these bookmarked to rec for eons, and they make sort of a nice package, as they all feature BFF pairings. So, here! Let's post them together. In honour of my S.O., who has a thing for BFF slash. (I know! I can't get her to read antagonistic or hate!pairings to save my life. Woe). :)

These Things Take Forever by heather11483 (Seamus/Dean, R, 3,600 words)
Seamus doesn’t know what this is.

It's been wonderful to see so many livelongnmarry stories pop up over the past month or so as auction authors from the summer are finishing and posting their stories, and this is one such gem. I have a crazy stupid soft spot for Seamus/Dean fic when it's done well. They just hit the BFF thing so nicely. I mean, we barely know anything about them in canon other than the fact of their friendship, so it's a nice take-off point for fic. I also just adore questioning!Seamus in fic. He's too adorable. *g* At any rate, this story does all of these things so nicely, while also establishing a neat little setting in which Seamus works at an Irish pub, and Luna is friends with Dean, and sometimes, at night when they don't really mean to and definitely don't talk about it, Seamus and Dean sleep together. A lovely, slow-burn romance fic.

Give a Little Whistle by reni_days (Harry/Ron, NC-17, 7,000 words)
A Muggle Artifact has been badly Misused, and Ron is left with a very big problem indeed.

This story really shouldn't be as good as it is. The premise is pure crack - involving a penis-enlarging curse, no less - and it certainly has its share of funny moments. But it's also not crack, and through some feat of writing genius, the author has made it a remarkably clever story, with a brilliant structure (especially the opening sequence) that I'm wildly jealous of, a great Ron POV voice, and some super hot sex scenes. One of the very best BFF stories I've ever read, I think, because the author nails the friendship dynamic so perfectly, as well as the attraction. Also, did I mention it's about a penis-enlarging curse? :)

Pants Down by magnetic_pole (Remus/Sirius, R, 3,000 words or so)
Our friends come through for us, in the end.

Hurrah for crack_broom, where I found the last two stories listed here, because I would have missed this otherwise. That would have been criminal because I try to read all of Maggie's R/S fic, since she's so damn good at it. :) Nobody captures Marauders- and First War-era R/S like her, combining wry humour with wartime existentialism and more than a few stupid-boy antics to dress it up. This one has a wonderful Remus POV voice for a scenario in which the boys are caught in flagrante in a back alley one night and spend the next 24 hours trying to a.) get out of jail, b.) get back into the Order's good graces, and c.) locate Remus's pants. ;) Funny, sweet and sexy, and with a wonderful Remus who couldn't be more exasperated, and in love, with that idiot Sirius. And as always, Maggie manages some poignant commentary on LGBT acceptance and coming-out amidst the humour.

Author's notes: This is something I wrote a couple of days ago when I realized that none of the five fics I'd started for this month's themes were ever going to cooperate and be ready in time. Special thanks to lilithilien and aldiara for beta-ing this for me and staying up all night to cheerlead and keep my head from hitting the desk too often. I have tweaked it a bit more since they looked at it though, so please forgive any remaining mistakes.

Besides all of the other tasty things we made today, I made some banana nut bread. It came out so delicious and fluffy. Since I typed up my recipe for Blue, I figured I'd just post it here.

Makes one loaf. Vegan if you use earth balance (or non-casein margarine) and applesauce in lieu of butter and eggs. ^_^

1c flour
1/2t salt
1t baking soda
1/2c melted butter (I use earth balance to omit the dairy, but another option is 1/4c vegetable oil)
2/3c sugar (i use half white, half brown)
2 very ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 - 1c nuts chopped (i used raw almonds and cashews, which came out much crunchier than my usual pecan/cashew blend)
dash of cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
1/2c unsweetened applesauce (in lieu of 2 eggs)
1/2t vanilla

I also added a handful of raisins and dried cranberries which added some great texture to counter the crunch of the almonds!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, combine dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, soda, spices). In another bowl, mash the bananas and add the other wet ingredients (butter, applesauce, vanilla). Mix the dry into the wet, add the nuts and any dried fruit, put into a greased pan and cook for about 1 hr, or until a butter knife slid into the centre comes out clean!

We had an early turkey party in the Snegurochka/S.O. household, which was, by all accounts, a smashing success, so yay. And now today I get to lie around in sweatpants eating leftovers while everyone else does the crazy family stuff. Woot!
